Meet the passionate educators behind Flourish Maricopa - dedicated to guiding and inspiring every student in our community.
James Cross
Head of School
James began his education career through Teach For America, teaching in Oklahoma City Public Schools. He later moved to Nashville and joined Rocketship Nashville as a humanities teacher. He looped with his students for four years, from first to fourth grade. When they moved on to middle school, he became an assistant principal at the same school, leading both the humanities and math programs. He later moved to DC and managed the humanities department at a local charter middle school in Ward 8. He now calls the Phoenix area home!
James holds a B.A. from the University of Washington, an M.Ed. from Johns Hopkins, and a PhD from Trevecca University. As a committed learner, he's excited to continue helping teachers do what they do best and supporting children as they fall in love with learning, too!
When not in a school, James loves reading, spending time with his two cats, and collecting rocks and minerals!
